Business Development Manager – Major Account Development

Position Summary:

The position is responsible for continued revenue growth from an assigned territory through the placement of, but not limited to administrative, office, customer service and call center, accounting and finance, legal, mortgage, banking, technical, production, distribution, transportation, skilled labor, professional, onsite vendor management programs and direct placement through SmartHire.

Secure new business through active solicitation of existing clients and prospect new client accounts. Deliver customized staffing solutions through a consultative sales approach. Deliver exceptional service and results to both our business client and temporary associate, thus enhancing our market presence and reputation.

Basic Overview of Duties

The position is responsible for continued revenue growth from an assigned territory through the placement of, but not limited to administrative, office, customer service and call center, accounting and finance, legal, mortgage, banking, technical, production, distribution, transportation, skilled labor, professional, onsite vendor management programs and direct placement through SmartHire.

Secure new business through active solicitation of existing clients and prospect new client accounts. Deliver customized staffing solutions through a consultative sales approach. Deliver exceptional service and results to both our business client and temporary associate, thus enhancing our market presence and reputation.

  • Prepare, present and write proposals and correspondence.
  • Build relationships and expand business with existing clients through various activities, which could include research, proposals, meetings, roundtable discussions, profiling departments and conducting service evaluations.
  • Meet with new accounts to review general business terms and conditions, conduct safety tours and service evaluations.
  • Introduce, educate and set-up all accounts with the office team to ensure success.
  • Responsible for market strategies, revenue targets, account planning and positioning.
  • Maintain a complete funnel of new business that is aligned with the organizational goals.
  • Attend networking, business association and community networking functions as needed.
  • Market top candidates for placement at existing client and prospect accounts.
  • Responsible for updates and additions to the SmartTalent Direct Mail program; maintaining their own market place spreadsheet for monthly submittal when directed.
  • Work with the office team to help create various sales campaigns.
  • Maintain complete sales records in eEmpACT and complete reports as needed for the business client.
  • Complete weekly reporting for management, as directed.
  • Assist with recruiting, screening, interviewing and the placement of potential temporary associates as needed during the week, evenings and weekends, when needed.
  • Attend recruiting activities and job fairs as needed during the week, evenings and weekends, when needed.
  • Return all calls and emails by the end of the day for that day prior to leaving.

Additional responsibilities are, but not limited to, the following:

  • Ensure SmartTalent meets and exceeds all legal compliance regulations from the EEOC, all city, county, state and federal government entities.
  • Gather all new account set-up paperwork, such as, but not limited to the General Business Agreement, Direct Hire Agreement, Worksite Safety Inspection, Billing/Credit Profile, Cash Handling Agreement.
  • Conduct Worksite Safety Inspections. Follow-up with any corrective actions, if needed.
  • Complete safety investigations when injuries occur with their accounts. Follow-up with any corrective actions, if needed.
  • Various administrative duties including system documentation of activities and Human Resource related conversations with temporary associates.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary.

Regional Sales Manager

Position Summary

This position will hire, train and develop Business Development Managers, direct the selling and service activities of the SmartTalent sales team. The team will develop new business through active solicitation of new prospect accounts as well as service and expand business within our current client base.
The RSM will direct the sales team to demonstrate and provide strategic solutions to a wide variety of organizations over a wide range of skill-sets. This position will help solve critical business problems for clients and prospects that need the right people to help solve or meet their business objectives and projects.
This position will be instrumental in developing plans to grow profitable revenue within the various vertical skill markets and major accounts throughout Western Washington.
The sales team is responsible for active solicitation of new clients through in-person cold calls, tele-marketing calls, skill marketing, appointments, referrals, networking and various other activities that will secure and expand our business relationships.
The sales team is responsible for the on-going development and expansion of existing clients, expanding business in all vertical markets and identifying all levels of decision makers. Prepare, present and write proposals and correspondence. Build relationships and expand business through various activities, which could include research, proposals, meetings, which could include roundtable discussions, quarterly business reviews, profiling departments and conducting service evaluations, etc.

Responsibilities

Planning
Planning includes establishing goals, objectives and strategies for the sales team. This is future oriented – a road map of where the RSM will want the company and sales team to go. Effective Planning is central to your success as an RSM!

  1. Establish goals and objectives for the Business Development Managers.
  2. Establish and define a strategy for “how” your Business Development Managers will carry out these goals and objectives.
  3. Establish and quantify your plan of “when” and “how” you will accomplish your goals.
  4. Communicate goals, objectives and define timetables and expectations.
  5. Communicate these goals, objectives and incentives to your team. Work closely with team members to keep focused, and the vision alive!

Staffing
The goal of staffing is to hire the most qualified individuals to help meet the goals of SmartTalent. The RSM will be measured by the caliber of staff that is attracted and retained. Hiring involves a substantial financial investment for SmartTalent. Therefore, make every effort to get the individual trained and productive in the shortest amount of time. If it is not a good match, cut your losses quickly and find a replacement.

  1. Recruit for all Business Development Managers. Define skill level and attitude needed to accomplish the company sales goals.
  2. Define expectations of performance with all new employees: work hours, standards of performance, job duties, commitment and explain the SmartTalent philosophy and corporate culture.
  3. Ensure that proper orientation and training is immediately provided.
  4. Evaluate performance on a regular basis. Counsel sales team as necessary to bring productivity and performance up to expected levels.
  5.   Oversee the scheduling, attendance, and overall performance of your sales team.

Controlling and Sales
Control is the process of establishing standards and measuring tools; monitoring and comparing results against those standards; and adjusting or correcting performance as needed to bring performance into line with the goals.

  1. Establish weekly standards and measuring tools for your team members.
  2. Define and communicate acceptable standards to be used in educating our clients: business descriptions, billing information, WC codes, terms and credit information, etc.
  3. Define and communicate acceptable credit terms, WC codes, etc. to sales team.
  4. Measure, monitor and compare the “results” against the standards established.
  5. Assess acceptability of all new customers. Ensure all elements have been completed and entered into the computer system prior to approving new customer.
  6. Review new account set-up that includes, but not limited to the General Business Agreement, Direct Hire Agreement, Worksite Safety Inspection, Billing/Credit Profile, Cash Handling Agreement.
  7. Conduct Worksite Safety Inspections. Follow-up with any corrective actions, if needed.
  8. Ensure that the sales team completes a safety investigations when injuries occur. Follow-up with any corrective actions, if needed.
  9. Minimize risk of WC injuries and losses. Act quickly! The sales team should immediately advise the Branch Manager or Branch Operations Manager of any injuries.
  10. Instruct the sales team how to educate and set-up all accounts with their inside partner(s) to ensure success.
  11. Responsible for market strategies, revenue targets, account planning and positioning.
  12. Maintain a complete funnel of new business with each sales person that is aligned with the organizational goals.
  13. Attend networking, business association and community networking functions, as needed.
  14. Instruct sales team to market top candidates for placement at existing client and prospect accounts.
  15. Responsible for the sales teams updates and additions to the SmartTalent Direct eMail program; maintaining their own market place spreadsheet for monthly submittal when appropriate.

Directing
Directing is essentially motivation and leadership through the art of effective communication. Leadership is effectively influencing the behavior of people so they willingly strive to reach your goals. Motivation is igniting the internal spark which results in high morale and positive performance.

  1. Oversee and direct the sales effort, including the approval of all bids, proposals and price quotes. Verify quotes and commitments prior to submission to customer, when necessary.
  2. Create and maintain motivation amongst sales team by creating an excited and enthusiastic environment through sales promotions, idea exchanges, and innovative approaches to business.
  3. Direct your sales team through consistent communication:
    1. Sales Meetings: Discuss and evaluate how sales performance compares against set sales goals. Discuss new sales ideas, target market accounts, establish prospecting lists, and develop other sales strategies that will help meet goals. Discuss new information, changes in policy or law, and/or reminders regarding day-to-day operations, hours, goals, sales, meetings, etc.
    2. Safety Meetings: Discuss importance of safety, site visits, temp screening and maintaining a no injury week. Oversee monitoring of safety equipment. Forward minutes to Corporate Safety Officer weekly.

Branch Operations Manager

Reports to:

Operations Manager or President

Primary Purpose

The Branch Operations Manager will be responsible for driving profitability by managing, leading, and developing branch operations. Branch Operations Manager are expected to plan, organize, staff, control and direct their operations to accomplish this.

The BOM will work closely with Business Development Managers to target new clients, while maintaining service to established clients. The BOM should have mastered an understanding of the staffing industry.

Primary Responsibilities

Employee Management

  • Hire, train and manage operations staff
  • Ensure that proper orientation and training is immediately provided
  • Evaluate performance on a regular basis
  • Oversee the scheduling, attendance, and overall performance of your staff
  • Establish weekly standards and measuring tools for your staff members
  • Inside Staff: Define and quantify the sales efforts required by your inside staff to meet the goals of the office: telemarketing, contacting existing customers, forwarding leads to sales staff, etc. PSs should enter these activities into eEmpACT.
  • Define and communicate acceptable standards to be used in educating our clients: business descriptions, billing information, WC codes, terms and credit information, etc. Document in eEmpACT as appropriate.
  • Assess acceptability of all new customers. Ensure all elements have been completed and entered into the computer system prior to approving new customer.
  • Assess acceptability of all potential temps
  • Monitor A/R Aging on a weekly basis.
  • Counsel operational staff as necessary to bring productivity and performance up to expected levels.
  • Minimize risk of WC injuries and losses. Act quickly! Immediately advise Corporate Safety Officer of any injuries. Participate in designing modified duty assignments in the office. Track and monitor employee recuperation; forward all information to Corporate WC Department.
  • Minimize Unemployment risk. Run eEmpACT reports to find out which temporaries are either “coming off assignment” or are currently unemployed. Minimize these costs by coordinating effort to keep temps working. Make sure UI paperwork is completed in timely manner.
  • Manage staff’s responsibilities through quality control procedures such as auditing
  • Support recruitment efforts; create recruitment strategies to meet the client’s demands of a contingent workforce
  • Monitor replacement ratio and identify area for improvement
  • Conduct daily huddles and weekly staff meetings

Client Management

  • Meet with new accounts to review general business terms and conditions, conduct safety tours and service evaluations, etc.
  • Introduce, educate and set-up all accounts with the office team to ensure success.
  • Market top candidates for placement at existing client and prospect accounts.
  • Assist with recruiting, screening, interviewing and the placement of potential temporary associates as needed during the week, evenings and weekends, when needed.
  • Focus activities on client staffing needs through active management of open orders
  • Address complaints and problems from clients and insure all parties are satisfied with the results
  • Analyze, interpret and verify information from eEmpACT, including fill/refill ratios, in order to provide feedback with recommendations to our client
  • Perform ad-hoc research requests for clients as needed
  • Maintain constant communications with clients through quality checks, meetings and quality surveys
  • Assist other management and/or Business Development Manager with client reporting, presentations and/or Business Reviews
  • Build and foster relationships with both prospect and existing clients
  • Travel within the local market, including client and/or prospect visits, job fairs, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours outside of the normally scheduled work week, when the need arises
  • Complete weekly reporting for management, as directed.

Additional responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:

  • Maintain control over Policy Manual, Safety Manual and APP Binder. Ensure these company work “tools” are organized, current and accessible to staff.
  • Ensure SmartTalent meets and exceeds all legal compliance regulations from the EEOC, all city, county, state and federal government entities.
