Staffing Specialist

Reports to the Branch Manager

Location: Fife

PRIMARY PURPOSE: With discretion and independent judgment, to make employment, hiring and management decisions, which will minimize company's risk while maximizing company profit.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a SmartTalent Supervisor you are responsible for overseeing your temporary employees. You will exercise discretion and independent judgment in the following areas:

  1. Match candidates seeking employment with the requirements of the customer.
  2. Decide which employees to send to which particular employer for consideration.
  3. Compare, evaluate and decide possible courses of actions concerning employees.
  4. Perform office work directly related to the enforcement and implementation of SmartTalent's management policies.

Interview, Screen, and Evaluate

Exercise discretion and judgment as follows:

  1. Solicit, interview, evaluate, select, hire and train employees for Temporary, Temporary-to-Hire and Direct positions.
  2. Evaluate and select the "right candidate for customer consideration.
  3. Make offers of employment and enter into employment relationship with temporary employees.
  4. Set, establish and adjust rates of pay and/or hours of work.
  5. Direct temporary employee's work schedule, hours of work, and evaluate need for additional training.
  6. Supervise and appraise temporary employee's productivity and efficiency through quality control checks.
  7. Evaluate temporary employee's job performance to recommend status changes.
  8. Administer disciplinary action, transfers and/or termination decisions as necessary.
  9. Verify and document employee's "right to work in the US.

Employee Relations

  1. Train and provide company orientation to new temporary employees prior to sending on assignment. Brief temporaries on job duties, expectations of performance, policies and procedures.
  2. Handle temporary employee's complaints, grievances, questions and concerns.
  3. Evaluate and provide for the safety of employees (training and/or equipment).
  4. Assign and/or transfer employees and deem appropriate to satisfy needs of SmartTalent or a customer.
  5. Document all temporary employees activity.
  6. Return all phone calls and emails prior to leaving at the end of the day.
  7. Attend recruiting activities and job fairs as needed during the week, evenings and weekends.

Customer Relations (Employee and Business Customer)

  1. Interview customers to define their staffing needs and exceptions. Identify essential functions of position. Establish the job description.
  2. Access SmartTalent's ability to satisfy customer's needs through recruiting, interviewing, evaluating, selection, and extending offers to qualified candidates.
  3. Evaluate, identify and select appropriate employees for presentation to customers; coordinate meetings between customers and potential applicants/employees.
  4. Having selected the candidate to fill position, instruct/train them with regard to SmartTalent and the customer policies, procedures, and standards.
  5. Establish and confirm terms of agreement (pay rate, bill rate, terms, on-site supervisor, etc.) with customer and temporary employees. Assure that services performed are profitable.
  6. Use every contact with customers as marketing opportunity to sell additional service.
  7. Market for new business; assist scheduling appointments and qualifying accounts for the sales team.
  8. Continue to provide customer service by taking buying sources to lunch, delivering promotional items, and making telemarketing calls.
  9. Serve as on-call representative after hours, responding to any work-related emergency via office pager.
